Having lucked out at Tweseldown last Saturday with sunshine, today saw Jonelle bask in early spring rays again at Moreton in Dorset. It was wall to wall blue skies and a local one to boot with four very smart novice horses at various stages in their careers.
I Like It de Rohan (Kiki) has a few intermediates under her belt but a first start for 2026 today saw her take the win in her novice and upgrade to intermediate points at the same time. The dressage judges in both sections of novice appeared to have been watching the recent World Cup pure dressage as they had scoring standards that were exceptionally high for both sections with a scant few in the high 20’s. Kiki is a brilliant jumper and a double clear was no surprise for sure.
LSF The Boss is a proper worker and he backed up his Tweseldown comeback with an emphatic win in the the novice section despite rolling a pole. Boss is all about getting the job done and he did so in cracking form today.
J’orange (Daisy) backed up her Tweseldown form with a solid 2nd place to Boss despite not impressing the judges with a 35. Jonelle commented that both she and Brookfield Royal Love (Edward) did lovely tests and scored 35 apiece which is not normally the sign of a good and error free test! Edward picked up some time to finish in 5th and his first BE points with Jonelle. He is the baby of the group but sure held his own today.
Jonelle was full of compliments for the Moreton team as they run a really good event with plenty to do on the cross country and with fair old fashioned questions… plenty of verticals, some ups and downs and some square oxers. She did also add that the track she built for her crew on the Chedington outdoor on Monday was far tougher than the SJ track today and its such a good feeling to go into the arena and have the horses feel like its easy!
Two events, three wins….Jonelle is definitely on a roll for the start of 2026!
