Just three smart novice horses for Jonelle at her local at Chard and the weather played ball with a chilly start followed by sunshine and the odd cloud.    Not balmy but definitely preferable to rain and wind!

LSF The Boss was the star of the day with a 30.5 and a double clear to take his second win of the season and to upgrade to intermediate on points which is always a minor milestone.  His middle name is ‘ try’ and he really does bust a gut to deliver what is asked of him on every outing and it is testament to his solid attitude that he keeps showing up to work.

J’Orange (Daisy)does not have the same work ethic for sure….she is quite the diva and is the polar opposite of Boss.  She would be the leader of the union, a feisty red head that pretends to lead the cause for all but simply has herself in mind…but she has talent to burn so gets away with it. Having walked home at Barbury she clearly knew she had a bit of ground to make up so a 31 and a double clear for second place to Boss was just perfect.

Brookfield Future News (Edward) also did his bit with a 30.5 on the flat, he ran down the 5 stride line a little between 3 and 4  to have fence 4 and then, as he does, panicked a little to have fence 5 as well before regaining his composure for the rest of the round.  He really wants to do the right thing, it’s just going to take a while for him to lose the ‘new boy on the block’ mentality and chill a little as he has plenty of ability!

All three gave Jonelle great spins cross country and she was very happy with her day. Jonelle mentioned that the showjumping was on a surface and they had built a really decent novice track and the cross country was a proper novice with plenty of questions which suited her desire for novice to be educational for the horses rather than too easy or trappy.

Happy days when the sun shines and all the ponies go well.   And it’s a rare thing to have a proper local in Dorset so fun  for Jonelle  that she was home in good time despite a late afternoon finish.
