Cool but with the sun shining at 9.21 this morning in Boekelo for Tim and Garcon ( Tibo) and they cantered down the centre line in some of the best weather Boekelo has seen for a few years. Tibo was on his best behaviour and did some nice trot work but was clearly bored in the walk and I think the term ‘lacks concentration’ could well be applied! He really doesn’t see the point of the walk pirouettes ( he is certainly not the only one!) and the judges agreed that they were not amazing but the canter work showed him in a true uphill frame with great balance. His changes are a work in progress and whilst he can do them well at home, in the arena it’s another matter and he did look green. A score of 35.6 isn’t going to trouble the leaders but it is a fair assessment of where he is and with the leader on 26.5 it just shows that being less than 10 points adrift is not really a big deal with cross country and showjumping still to come.
Shout out to Jesse Campbell who sits in 2nd by 0.3 with Speedwell (Arthur) and who leads the NZ Nations Cup into third place after dressage.
