Sunny and windy for the showjumping at Bicton today and all Team Price horses bounced through the trot up first thing and waited for their turn to showjump. The Young Riders went first and then the 4*S XC started at 12 noon with Tim and Garcon (Tibo) jumping in the 3L around 12.30.
Tim had Tibo firmly anchored today and he jumped a super clear round which moved him up to eventual 17th place and the pesky 3L box securely ticked. Now he and Tibo can move onto the advanced classes which will definitely be right up Tibo’s street!
Jonelle had to wait until nearly 3pm to jump Faerie Usian (Maude) in the 2L and when she had fence 2 down it seemed a long way around as for a Le Lion d’Angers qualification you are just allowed the one rail. But Maude jumped an immaculate round after that and it turned out that for some reason fence 2 came down more than any other on the track throughout the rest of the competition. Another box ticked!
I Like it de Rohan (Kiki) has simply loved her first three day event and she jumped a really classy clear round to move up into 8th spot overall and into the prize money. I am not sure that £109 will go far when split between her four owners after the entry fee of £758 is taken into account but the aim was to also tick a Le Lion box so it’s good that it all worked out!
Shout out to Cosby Green who ticked Le Lion boxes with Libero D (Lenny) and Jonelle’s former ride Illico de l’Esques (Nico) and also rode on the USA Nations cup squad with Highly Suspicious (Puff) in the 4*S and piloted her own Esprit de Feu (Rojo) to 12th in the 3*L.
It has been a bittersweet weekend with the late Georgie Campbell uppermost in all the riders, owners, grooms and organisers minds. A tough one for Georgie’s family and Jesse in particular, a milestone that no one ever imagined would need to be reached.
Fly high George with your stunning smile, your radiant personality and your love of your husband, family and horses. Rest easy that you will never, ever be forgotten and the Georgie Campbell Foundation is something that you would be incredibly proud of.
