Just Jonelle and Fernhill Kankan for her first advanced at Aston Le Walls on Friday and despite having some 4 hours between dressage and showjumping it was a productive day.

Kankan is smart on the flat and the quality of her work showed from the first centre line. It was her first test with flying changes in it and she got a little flustered in the first one and slightly struggled to come back from that knock to her confidence so made a couple more small mistakes in what is a busy test for even the experienced advanced horses. They still scored a 33 which is no disgrace for your first foray into tail coats and long arenas.

Jonelle described her showjumping round as “really beautiful” which is a serious compliment from the boss! Cross country was a real step up and although Jonelle said she had to ‘hold her hand’ a couple of times they went direct everywhere and Kankan answered the challenge with her usual bold and determined way. They came home clear with some 17 time which was still enough to leave them in 8th place in a big section with some fancy names both above and below them. Go Kankan!
