Horses and riders arrived in Aachen on a roasting Wednesday with temps hitting 38 degrees and blazing sunshine all day which suddenly gave way to a massive thunderstorm which lasted around an hour.  It was absolutely torrential with thunder and lightning and they had to halt both the dressage and the showjumping whilst horses and riders took shelter but it did bring a big respite from the heat.

Thursday was much more pleasant and the day whizzed by with briefings and course walks and then the horses jogged up for the ground jury.  It’s a very relaxed jog at Aachen as it’s designed for the jumpers so it’s in the stable area and just a 20metre sprint.

Vitali found this much to his liking and didn’t play his usual tricks. Hiarado (Jools) loves an audience and powered up and down the strip when it was her turn as normal.

Fun to have a team again at Aachen with Jonelle running as an individual, Monica Spencer, Sam Lissington, Clarke Johnstone and Tim making up the team of 4.  Dressage and jumping on Friday with cross country running Saturday morning.
